HOW IT ALL BEGAN Operating for over 40 years, Thomas Waste Management Limited was originally established in 1968 as Thomas Plant Hire by Mr Royden John Thomas, mainly operating plant and tippers on site work from a yard in Crickhowell. He later moved to Gilwern and in 1981 operated from the old Workhouse in Abergavenny trading as Abergavenny Waste Disposal, which coincided with his substantial entry into the Skip Hire industry.

With the ever-increasing demands on landfill, we are fully aware of the importance of recycling waste. A very high percentage of the waste that comes into the Thomas Waste facility is sorted in the picking station with the products being transported for recycling. We are continuously looking for improvements to reduce the remaining proportion sent to landfill and for projects in which waste can be successfully used. Thomas Waste Management is one of the largest employers in Brynmawr with an average of 40 members of staff and in excess of 20 trucks on the road at any one time.  We are commited to customer care and have a very good reputation  for providing a high quality, professional and reliable service. We are always available to discuss individual requirements for any size short or long-term projects.

MISSION STATEMENT It is the policy of this company to continue to strive towards a better environment.  We are working towards improving our recycling percentage and reduce the amount of waste going to landfill.  There are obvious benefits from reclaiming products and recycling materials, namely: Reduce the amount of waste to landfill Materials reclaimed being used Reduction in the need for primary materials The number one impact, as assessed by environmental experts, is vehicle emissions from transport use. When transporting waste to landfill and for recycling, wherever possible the shortest practical route is used and operational factors taken into consideration. We update our fleet of heavy goods vehicles on a regular basis so that we are kept up-to-date with the latest trends and equipment.
